I never played MGS4 because it took me a few years before I finally bought a PS3. I didn't know until I heard about it a week or so ago that it didn't have trophies. Did they add a lot of trophies?

Finished Assassin's Creed: Revelations, including the Lost Archive DLC, as well as the two available episodes of The Walking Dead. Moving on to God of War: Ghost of Sparta HD next!

Ripped through God of War: Ghost of Sparta HD, which was a lot of fun, but taking a break for a few days while on a business trip. When I return...Mass Effect 1!

They are a pretty nice upgrade, from what I can tell, but this is the first time I've played them. They are fairly repetitive in terms of game design, but otherwise a nice bit of senseless destruction between more substantial fare.
As far as the order, I began with Chains of Olympus, which is the prequel to the original God of War. I suppose it technically "spoils" some of the story from the original game, but the stories are so basic and straightforward that I didn't really care. Ghost of Sparta fits between GoW and GoW2.
Chains of Olympus was a good place to start because, being designed for the PSP, the basic game design is nearly identical to the bigger PS2 versions, but everything is a bit more streamlined. So it gets you used to the mechanics of the franchise before you jump into the (slightly) more complex PS2/PS3 games.
But without turning this into a mini-review (LOL), there's a reason I play these as "chasers" between the more substantial games like Assassin's Creed, RPGs, etc. They don't exactly challenge the mind.

So I lied (somewhat)...before tackling Mass Effect 1, I just saw that the next ep of The Walking Dead was released while I was away in Boston, so catching up with that is my first priority. Oh, and since it's a long weekend home with the kids, I'll be playing Back to the Future and/or Ratchet and Clank HD Collection when they are awake...

Lots and lots of Rock Band Blitz. I'll probably play the newest TWD episode on the weekend too.
