The Bobby Blackwolf Show

469 - 02/08/15 Bobby Blackwolf Show - Nintendo Creators Program, Gaming Institutions Closing

  • Nintendo has launched their Creators Program, which allows YouTubers to talk positively about Nintendo games in return for 60% of the ad revenue, and this week it wound up being both unpopular and wildly popular at the same time.
  • SEGA is closing their San Francisco office and backing out of the AAA console game space to concentrate on mobile and PC.
  • AOL has closed Joystiq and WoW Insider, and while Joystiq is rebranded as a section of Engadget, it'll be nothing like the original.
  • Sony Online Entertainment has been sold and is now Daybreak Game Company, and will start making multiplatform games.
  • I released my first Oculus Rift enabled game - my #VOGJam game Moon Buggy!
  • Then we take calls about the rumored Legend of Zelda Netflix series, the New Nintendo 3DS, and gaming podcasts being shut out in favor of YouTubers.

I've been meaning to ask this question for a while now:

When is VxJasonxV going to do the outro to the podcast with his radio voice. Then you won't have to find new voice over guys, like it says in the outtro ;)

You just want to hear Jason insult your mom, don't you...

Yes, that would be great! By the way, who is that guy at the end? I do like his voice, and I know you've been using that outro since the previous network's days.

His online name is Kdog96. He actually works (worked? Dunno we lost touch) at an FM radio station in Canada. He actually recorded those (and a whole lot of other Allgames bumpers) in the studio during his off hours and when the studio wasn't being used.

Damn, that's a shame you lost contact. I did do a google search on "Kdog96". Not for stalking purposes mind you, but just to see what came up. @KDog96 on Twitter, but I'm not sure if that's him. He seems a wrestling fan. But this Twitter bio gives me a bit of hope.

Anyway, changing gears for a second. I was going to layeth the smack down on Nintendo, and check them directly into the Smackdown Hotel because I read some more on their partnership programme. They mention you're not alloed to play other third party games, WHAT?!

I decided not to go into it because I might offend that one Nintendo fan who calls your show now and again.

That's him. He's a good guy.

As for the Nintendo Creators Program, they have the two tiers. To get 70% of the ad revenue, you have to have a channel that ONLY plays games on their supported list (which are only Nintendo titles.) You could opt to only get 60% of the ad revenue if you submit a video on the approved list individually.

Both options suck, but I still love playing Nintendo games.

Now you just have to Tweet him and ask him nicely can he re-record the outro :P

Oh I see, so you can still play third party games on your channel. You're right, the deal still sucks regardless anyway. Every other game developer/publisher seems fine with YouTubers giving them free advertising, but Nintendo.

Maybe it's because Nintendo are still stuck in their Japanese traditional ways. In no way, shape or form is that a dig at any people who listen to your show who are Japanese, or live in Japan.
