It seems kinda simple, of course WoW is the strongest community. There are more of us. Of course like any large gathering there are going to be squabbles over seemingly silly stuff... PvP MOAR! PvE Rules! etc... It is the diverse and varied landscape which allows all manner of shows to grow to fill the gaps. Yeah we might fight amongst ourselves at times, but we are fighting about something we care a lot about.

We may not always have the best manners but we are all fans and really really enjoy the game. If you see someone wearing a warcraft shirt or hat, you have that instant connection. I don't see that with other games.
