The Bobby Blackwolf Show

The Bobby Blackwolf Show is a weekly internet radio show and podcast discussing the latest news in gaming as well as sometimes reminiscing about gaming's history. It records LIVE on Sundays at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific on the VOG (Voice of Geeks) Network Twitch Channel while taking live calls via Discord and including chat room interaction. The show began in October of 2004 as an internet radio only show, taking a hiatus in December of that year. It relaunched on July 24, 2005 and has been broadcasting new content every weekend ever since. On December 18, 2018, it moved from radio to video on Twitch.

While the show focuses on recent news and events in the gaming industry, frequently it delves into the independent or barely mentioned gaming scene, as well as discussing gaming's history with classic games.

The show has covered six E3's, two GDC's and Independent Games Festivals, four Penny Arcade Expos and multiple Dragon Cons, as well as other gaming events in the southeast, like SIEGE and the Southern Fried Gaming Expo.

Some guests of the show during its long run have been: Video Games Live, Homestar Runner, Atari Flashback 2, Beggar Prince, MechCorps, The Silver Lining, PlayStation Home, Gearbox Software, Devolver Digital, Telltale Games, and the IGDA. Bobby has also interviewed voice actors AJ LoCascio (Back To The Future), Jessie Seely (Double Dragon Neon), Ellen McClain (GLaDOS), John Patrick Lowrie (Team Fortress 2 Sniper), and Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect FemShep), as well as musicians Tommy Tallarico (Everything), Ken Allen (Sierra On-Line), Jake "Virt" Kaufman (Shovel Knight and DuckTales Remastered), and GRAMMY award winner Christopher Tin.

The show does not work without YOUR live interaction, and each chatter is thanked personally at the conclusion of each episode. Come join us on Sundays at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific at the VOG (Voice of Geeks) Network Twitch Channel!

The Supreme Court finally ruled on Brown v. EMA - we won the battle, but the fight is not over yet. While we're celebrating Orange Lounge Radio's NINTH birthday, gamers are raging about things that are most likely unrelated. A new lawsuit alleges that Sony laid off security employees just before the hacking attacks that shut down most of their online presence. Team Fortress 2 is now FREE TO PLAY to all Steam account holders...And many gamers start to whine. Sony Online Entertainment is shutting down Star Wars Galaxies, presumably to make way for The Old Republic. EVE Online players are raging over the latest expansion due to graphics, a cash shop, and a seemingly misinterpreted leaked newsletter from inside CCP Games. The ensuing protest shows why EVE's server structure is amazing. Then we have an interview with Bernard Hoang about the Nyko Zoom, a peripheral to allow the Kinect to work in smaller spaces. Then we take a call about EVE Online, and celebrate OLR's ninth birthday with LOKI being as subtle as a two by four to the head.

We begin by giving our impressions of Child of Eden...Rez was amazing, does Child of Eden live up to it for the price that they're charging for it? We announce the winners of the PlayStation Home VIP Card contest from last week. Then we air an E3 interview with AJ LoCascio, the voice of Marty McFly in Telltale Games' Back to the Future series. We ask about Deloreans, Michael J. Fox's reaction to his performance, and give him an opportunity to bash the host which he does not take. Then we take calls about Duke Nukem Forever and PlayStation Home. During the OLR segment, we discuss our Disneyland adventure and explain ElecTRONica and Flynn's Arcade...It's a retro gamer's paradise!

We begin with an update on the patent troll situation from last week - Apple fought back with a nicely worded bitchslap. We all know that retail stores will let you preorder games well before their release date - what happens if you preordered Duke Nukem Forever when it was first announced a decade ago? Is Sony downgrading their PSP successor (rumored to be called Vita) in order to make it more financially competitive to the 3DS? We give our impressions of the multiplayer portion of Motorstorm: Apocalypse now that PSN is back up. Then we take calls about disasters, Dead or Alive: Dimensions, and E3.

In terms of topics covered, this is probably one of the most serious and important episodes we have done in quite some time. We don't talk that much about games, but more about what's going on under the hood. We begin by talking about how the patent holding company Lodsys is sending legal notices to small independent iOS developers for including technology that Apple requires for in-app purchases. They only want 0.575% of ALL revenue generated via in-app purchases since 2009, is that so wrong? The Nintendo 3DS Terms of Service has several paragraphs that are troubling if they are used in the absolute worst way...And you won't believe what the privacy policy states that children should NOT do with the device! Then we take calls all about LA Noire - why some people hate it, asking if people will hate Rockstar for it not being GTA 1946, and why Bobby might like it.

We start off by discussing Bobby attending E3 not as media, and answers some questions about if that is hypocritical. The PlayStation Network is back in America and Europe, and some new rumors came out about what other online service might have unwillingly lent a hand to the hacking. Valve's Gabe Newell gave an interview where he discussed a possible future pricing structure for games, which takes the consumer into account. Then we take calls about PSN and...Well, no, just PSN. The opening clip was from Electric Sista Hood, which apparently does not have enough Blackwolf in them.
