The Bobby Blackwolf Show

The Bobby Blackwolf Show is a weekly internet radio show and podcast discussing the latest news in gaming as well as sometimes reminiscing about gaming's history. It records LIVE on Sundays at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific on the VOG (Voice of Geeks) Network Twitch Channel while taking live calls via Discord and including chat room interaction. The show began in October of 2004 as an internet radio only show, taking a hiatus in December of that year. It relaunched on July 24, 2005 and has been broadcasting new content every weekend ever since. On December 18, 2018, it moved from radio to video on Twitch.

While the show focuses on recent news and events in the gaming industry, frequently it delves into the independent or barely mentioned gaming scene, as well as discussing gaming's history with classic games.

The show has covered six E3's, two GDC's and Independent Games Festivals, four Penny Arcade Expos and multiple Dragon Cons, as well as other gaming events in the southeast, like SIEGE and the Southern Fried Gaming Expo.

Some guests of the show during its long run have been: Video Games Live, Homestar Runner, Atari Flashback 2, Beggar Prince, MechCorps, The Silver Lining, PlayStation Home, Gearbox Software, Devolver Digital, Telltale Games, and the IGDA. Bobby has also interviewed voice actors AJ LoCascio (Back To The Future), Jessie Seely (Double Dragon Neon), Ellen McClain (GLaDOS), John Patrick Lowrie (Team Fortress 2 Sniper), and Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect FemShep), as well as musicians Tommy Tallarico (Everything), Ken Allen (Sierra On-Line), Jake "Virt" Kaufman (Shovel Knight and DuckTales Remastered), and GRAMMY award winner Christopher Tin.

The show does not work without YOUR live interaction, and each chatter is thanked personally at the conclusion of each episode. Come join us on Sundays at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific at the VOG (Voice of Geeks) Network Twitch Channel!

Even though it's the weekend before E3 2012, there was one non-E3 story that warmed our hearts - and that's Epic Games helping out recently dissolved developer Big Huge Games. But really, it's E3 week, and Nintendo aired a special broadcast describing the Wii-U's philosophy. Is it possible that the rumored Microsoft SmartGlass is the reason they did a surprise pre-E3 broadcast? (Since this description is being typed after the Microsoft press conference on Monday, we'll say yes.) A company claims it is resurrecting the Game Genie for the PS3, and will be showing it at E3. But is E3 still relevant in the ever changing game space? The ESA says yes, and so does a very large mobile/social game developer. Then we take calls about Skyrim, Catan, Wii-U, Game Genie, and the Humble Indie Bundle V. After the regular show, starting at a little bit after 49 minutes in, is the First Annual VOG Virtual Media Briefing Extravaganza, where Bobby Blackwolf and Rob Roberts describe where the Voice of Geeks Network is going in the near future with regards to content, and other surprises. NOTE: This portion is definitely EXPLICIT.

In a sad ending to last week's news, 38 Studios and Big Huge Games have laid off all of their staff. Might it turn into a criminal investigation? A judge has recommended that the Xbox 360 be banned from import into the United States due to patent litigation from Motorola. The real money auction house in Diablo 3 (why you have to be always connected to play a singleplayer game) isn't coming anytime soon. The lid has been busted off as to how and why so many Xbox Live accounts have been "jacked" - not hacked. Microsoft, however, says it's still not an issue. Then we take calls about impersonations on PSN, Max Payne 3, and more geeking out over Minecraft 360. Tune into VOGNetwork.com on Friday, June 1st at 10PM ET/7PM PT for the exclusive First Annual VOG Virtual Media Briefing Extravaganza!

This week has been a bevy of bad news for the biggest PC game release of the year - Diablo 3. First, people who preordered the game from GAME Australia were left out in the cold while the retail chain went into administration, but Blizzard came through to help them out. Then, Error 37 crops up for those who did buy the game, and they couldn't buy the game. Clerks jokes abound! I played a little bit more of Minecraft 360, and I'm warming up to it. Because Facebook's IPO didn't go as planned, Zynga's stock also took a stumble and even stopped trading. The State of Rhode Island is in the news a lot over 38 Studios, and we try to give an overview of what is actually happening. Then we take calls about Diablo 3, and how to listen to the VOG Network on a PS3.

The first item we talk about probably won't help you listening on the podcast, but you could have gotten Midnight Club 2 on PC for free by joining the official Rockstar Group on Steam. But, you can join the VOG Network group on Steam even after May 15th! Minecraft 360 has broken sales records on Xbox Live Arcade, but announcing that has shown there might have been some preferential treatment. We also talk a little bit about the game (impressions from the demo) and how it is different from the PC version. If you want to buy games on Steam, but don't want to use your credit or debit card, you now have an alternative...And neither side is too happy about it. The Xbox 360 is rumored to get Internet Explorer 9 with Kinect support. Information about the real money auction house in Diablo 3 has been released...And we talk about how much money Blizzard will take in from each successful sale. We don't take many calls because we were recording on Mother's Day, but one person called in just to call, so we talked about The Pirate Bay telling Anonymous to stop censoring other people.

Hope you didn't want to go to Seattle over Labor Day, as PAX Prime badges completely sold out in mere hours. (Dragon*con memberships are still available!) There was a snafu for the iOS game Rock Band, where they claimed the app would be disabled on May 31st, and then EA Mobile reversed their stance. Germany has banned the Xbox 360 as well as other Microsoft products due to a patent dispute on the H.264 video codec. Microsoft has announced a $99 Xbox 360 that is subsidized by two years of Xbox Live...And it's NOT a deal. Then we take calls about PAX Prime, the $99 Xbox, and EA's Indie Bundle. Stay tuned at the very end for an outtake that is a first for Bobby in his almost seven years of internet radio.

It's our first show on our new network, the Voice of Geeks (VOG) Network! The new coat of paint is still drying, so please watch where you lean. But, this is still a video game show, so we talk about EVE Online, and how a group of players want to completely destroy the in-game economy, and CCP Games is going to do nothing to stop it. Sony is getting their Smash Bros on with PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale. Nintendo will be releasing full retail games as digital distribution on the 3DS and Wii-U. Zynga has posted a record loss despite having a record number of players. Then we take calls about the VOG Network, Settlers of Catan, EVE Online, and Ubisoft's Wii-U trailer.

Fez has warped and twisted our mind, and we like it. Find out why. However, the Xbox Live Arcade title that broke records was acutally Trials Evolution. The Nintendo 3DS is getting an OS update to allow for folder management on the home screen. Jordan Mechner has published the source code to the original Apple ][ version of Prince of Persia to GitHub. Then we take calls about Fez, Skyrim, and Diablo 3.. Plus, the major joint announcement with Orange Lounge Radio. Thanks for the memories.

We're back from vacation, and we want to tell you about That Yoda Guy Nick Maley, who has a Star Wars museum in the middle of the Caribbean. We give our condolences to Jack Tramiel, founder of Commodore - a cornerstone in Bobby's childhood. The Better Business Bureau agrees with gamers about the Mass Effect 3 ending. Kinect integration is coming into Skyrim - will it work? Fez apparently has a lot of bugs that Polytronic is trying to fix. Then we take calls about Kinect Skyrim, being bored of RPG's, Fez, SWTOR Legacy Promotion, PlayStation Home, and Singularity.

LIGHTLY EDITED: This is a previously unreleased episode of The Bobby Blackwolf Show, and is released with minimal editing (removing the music break.) Please keep this in mind when you hear long awkward pauses that are typically edited out of the podcast. In this episode, we talk about BioWare addressing the Mass Effect 3 ending controversy, and a California bill that will force warning stickers on any "violent" video game, regardless of ESRB rating.
