The Bobby Blackwolf Show

The Bobby Blackwolf Show is a weekly internet radio show and podcast discussing the latest news in gaming as well as sometimes reminiscing about gaming's history. It records LIVE on Sundays at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific on the VOG (Voice of Geeks) Network Twitch Channel while taking live calls via Discord and including chat room interaction. The show began in October of 2004 as an internet radio only show, taking a hiatus in December of that year. It relaunched on July 24, 2005 and has been broadcasting new content every weekend ever since. On December 18, 2018, it moved from radio to video on Twitch.

While the show focuses on recent news and events in the gaming industry, frequently it delves into the independent or barely mentioned gaming scene, as well as discussing gaming's history with classic games.

The show has covered six E3's, two GDC's and Independent Games Festivals, four Penny Arcade Expos and multiple Dragon Cons, as well as other gaming events in the southeast, like SIEGE and the Southern Fried Gaming Expo.

Some guests of the show during its long run have been: Video Games Live, Homestar Runner, Atari Flashback 2, Beggar Prince, MechCorps, The Silver Lining, PlayStation Home, Gearbox Software, Devolver Digital, Telltale Games, and the IGDA. Bobby has also interviewed voice actors AJ LoCascio (Back To The Future), Jessie Seely (Double Dragon Neon), Ellen McClain (GLaDOS), John Patrick Lowrie (Team Fortress 2 Sniper), and Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect FemShep), as well as musicians Tommy Tallarico (Everything), Ken Allen (Sierra On-Line), Jake "Virt" Kaufman (Shovel Knight and DuckTales Remastered), and GRAMMY award winner Christopher Tin.

The show does not work without YOUR live interaction, and each chatter is thanked personally at the conclusion of each episode. Come join us on Sundays at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific at the VOG (Voice of Geeks) Network Twitch Channel!

Dragon Con was last week, and there was a little bit of gaming talk, but really it was all about Lord British. Super Mario Maker was released, and it's taken so many hours from people's lives already. We delve into the ups and downs of what ultimately is an amazing title. STAR MY LEVELS!

We're gonna be at Dragon Con, as well as presenting at the Parsec Awards! Come say hi! We totally didn't realize PAX was this week, and not over Labor Day Weekend. Kind of snuck up on us. Oculus has released a new runtime and set of drivers for the Oculus Rift, which eliminates support for older graphics cards and games that used to run just fine in the development kits. Rock Band 4's disc only version will cost more on the Xbox One because of a wireless adapter to use your old equipment. Then we take a very heavy call regarding the personal life of one of our most loyal listeners. We're raffling away a Japanese Ness Amiibo over at VOGNetwork.com! Participate and enter!

We're going to be at Dragon Con presenting a few panels and partying for the rest of the time. Come see us! Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 won't run some games that have extremely intrusive DRM. There is a line in the EULA that some people claim can remove pirated software from a Windows 10 user's hard drive. This means that several private torrent trackers are banning Windows 10 users from their goods.

Rob and I will be at Dragon Con in Atlanta this Labor Day Weekend, and we're speaking on a panel each. Nintendo has fired an employee from the Treehouse for talking to a podcast without permission. We start off talking about limited edition consoles and if we've purchased any or not. A Nikkei report in Japanese about working conditions at Konami is translated to English and everybody is outraged...But what's the issue? Our final interview with Momocon is with Mark Silman of Shiny Bolt Games about their color platformer Prisma. We then take calls about Rare Replay and Konami's working conditions.

Rob finally played (some of) the #VOGJam games, and it's up on YouTube, along with a Flappy VOG secret! Razer bought the parts of Ouya you didn't kickstart - pretty much everything but the hardware and the Free The Games fund, but at least Razer is stepping up. Harmonix is delaying Amplitude to make it bigger and better, but some backers want to try the demo that convention attendees have been playing for months. Our interview is with James Simpson and Jonathan Thomas about SnarfQuest Tales, based on the Larry Elmore comic strip. This is the second time we've spoken to them, and they have a Kickstarter live right now! Then we take calls about the Amplitude Kickstarter and Flashout 2.

We start off with some impressions from the Atlanta Virtual Reality Meetup that was still going on while we were doing the show - primarily demos from CCP Games, who were showing both Eve: Valkyrie and their Kinect 2.0 enabled "VR Labs" tech demos. But really, it's all about the 10 year anniversary of the show. We actually go back to the first three episodes of the show to see what we were talking about, and find out that either we have definitive answers or we're talking about the same stuff today. There's also reminiscing about the time Microsoft gave moneyhats during the launch of Halo 3. Then we take calls about the 10th Anniversary. Lots of them. Along with singing.

We were not live last week, but if we were, we would have covered the passing of Satoru Iwata. The show turns 10 years old on the day this episode is posted! Come celebrate on July 26th with us. A question is asked if there was ever any game purchase we regretted, and why. We have an interview from MomoCon of Jessie and Charlotte of C63 Industries about their puzzle-platformer shooter Pixel: Are You Squared? Rocket League has taken the PS4 fanbase by storm, and gamers are even forgiving of the massive server outages. Then we take a brief interrupted call from OLR about cookies.

This episode was recorded on July 5th - there was no show on July 12th due to medical issues, so there is discussion about Nintendo that does NOT reference what occurred on the 12th. The Mac version of Final Fantasy XIV has been pulled, with the developer metaphorically falling on his sword explaining why. Nintendo fans are petitioning to cancel Metroid Prime: Federation Force because they don't like the "transformation" of the franchise. We have an interview with Dennis Tsai of Blazing Orb about their Tetris-inspired fighting game Spaera. Then we take calls about Metroid Prime and cancelling games we don't like.
