The Bobby Blackwolf Show

The Bobby Blackwolf Show is a weekly internet radio show and podcast discussing the latest news in gaming as well as sometimes reminiscing about gaming's history. It records LIVE on Sundays at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific on the VOG (Voice of Geeks) Network Twitch Channel while taking live calls via Discord and including chat room interaction. The show began in October of 2004 as an internet radio only show, taking a hiatus in December of that year. It relaunched on July 24, 2005 and has been broadcasting new content every weekend ever since. On December 18, 2018, it moved from radio to video on Twitch.

While the show focuses on recent news and events in the gaming industry, frequently it delves into the independent or barely mentioned gaming scene, as well as discussing gaming's history with classic games.

The show has covered six E3's, two GDC's and Independent Games Festivals, four Penny Arcade Expos and multiple Dragon Cons, as well as other gaming events in the southeast, like SIEGE and the Southern Fried Gaming Expo.

Some guests of the show during its long run have been: Video Games Live, Homestar Runner, Atari Flashback 2, Beggar Prince, MechCorps, The Silver Lining, PlayStation Home, Gearbox Software, Devolver Digital, Telltale Games, and the IGDA. Bobby has also interviewed voice actors AJ LoCascio (Back To The Future), Jessie Seely (Double Dragon Neon), Ellen McClain (GLaDOS), John Patrick Lowrie (Team Fortress 2 Sniper), and Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect FemShep), as well as musicians Tommy Tallarico (Everything), Ken Allen (Sierra On-Line), Jake "Virt" Kaufman (Shovel Knight and DuckTales Remastered), and GRAMMY award winner Christopher Tin.

The show does not work without YOUR live interaction, and each chatter is thanked personally at the conclusion of each episode. Come join us on Sundays at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific at the VOG (Voice of Geeks) Network Twitch Channel!

No Man's Sky has a release date and a price, and some people are upset about the $60 price tag for an indie game by 10 people. Microsoft has announced their Universal Windows Apps, and how they will be tied to the Windows 10 store. This has upsides (shared friends lists and achievements) and downsides (Windows 10 Store required, no more Steam for PC games) Then we take calls about PC gaming as well as people being outraged.

Last week, I attended MAGFest. There was a lot of good, and a little tiny bit of bad. We shot some videos at MAGFest and put them on the VOG Network YouTube channel, so check them out! The HTC Vive preorders went on sale on February 29th for a cool $799. Then we talk to OLR about MAGFest, playing old rhythm games and sucking at them, and vendors selling romhacks on cartridges for lots of money.

I'm going to MAGFest! Check the #RoadToMAGFest hashtag on Wednesday, February 17th to follow along on my roadtrip from Atlanta. Amazon has entered the game engine business with its Lumberyard game engine...And it's free AND open source! Gametrailers has shut down after 13 years because YouTube and Twitch is now so prevalent. Then we take calls about getting a new PC, Stitcher's woes, and MAGFest!

MAGFest is coming up, and I will be live-tweeting my car trip on the #RoadToMAGFest hashtag on Wednesday, the 17th. If you're a classically trained musician, you have the opportunity to participate in a Video Games Live video performing the Halo Trilogy Suite. Rumors swirling that Mother 3 is finally getting a localization and release in the west on the Wii U Virtual Console. Google is going to enter the VR market with their Android smartphones. Then we take calls about Mechwarrior, game companies rereleasing old games rather than making new ones, and VCR games like VCR Clue.

Five Nights At Freddy's World was pulled from Steam, and will be released as a free game with the missing features added. EA accidentally helps us determine the current Xbox One sales data, which we had to use math to get. EA is also pulling out of the E3 show floor, and instead doing a show at the same time in the same area, but for members of the public rather than for the industry. Because of internet issues during the live show, we talk a little bit about having to upgrade to the new Xfinity modem that shares your wifi with every other Xfinity customer. Then we talk to OLR about Saints Row: Undercover, MAGFest, and how Pokemon Picross just makes you buy different Picross games by the same developer for a much lower price.

Five Nights At Freddy's World, a 16-bit RPG based in the jumpscare series, was released a month earlier than its announced release date, and a month unfinished. (Since the live episode of this show, the game has been completely pulled from Steam and refunds given.) Twitch has banned Yandere Simulator for very valid reasons, although they refuse to have a discussion with the developer who wants to alleviate those reasons. Then we take calls about Guitar Hero Live and Superb Owls.

Nintendo is removing Super Mario Maker levels due to "low popularity" and you cannot reupload them, even if it's their fault for not serving your level up to enough people. Play my levels so they don't get banned! HTC has announced Vive preorders will begin on February 29th, but still haven't announced a price. Then we take calls about Virtual Reality, Mario Maker levels, and the Doctor Who Pinball Arcade Kickstarter.

The Oculus Rift preorders went up, and while Kickstarter backers got theirs for free, the rest of the world has to pay $600 (or more, depending on the taxes in each country.) Considering this is going to be the entry point of high-level VR, 2016 may not be the year of consumer adoption of VR that we all hoped. Don't expect PlayStation VR to be any cheaper if an Amazon Canada page is to be believed. (Sony did not deny the price, only said they hadn't announced it yet.) That's pretty much the whole show. Even the calls were about the Rift. Take a drink.

In this first show of 2016, we start with Valve's explanation and apology for the Christmas-time caching issue. I got myself a Steam Link and Steam Controller and give some of my impressions of the setup and maintenance of them. The midpoint music is the white vinyl record (pops and all!) from the recently Kickstarted Mother Soundtrack. Then we take a call about the Xbox One's accessibility for the blind.

I was a Kickstarter backer of Amplitude, and give my impressions. I also finally picked up Undertale since it is now on so many "Best Of 2015" lists. Steam had a caching issue over the holidays where some people's Account Page was being served to other people, exposing addresses and phone numbers. Our midpoint music is from Professor Shyguy's new album Fragmentation. Then we take calls about Understale and Digital Combat Simulator.
