The Bobby Blackwolf Show

The Bobby Blackwolf Show is a weekly internet radio show and podcast discussing the latest news in gaming as well as sometimes reminiscing about gaming's history. It records LIVE on Sundays at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific on the VOG (Voice of Geeks) Network Twitch Channel while taking live calls via Discord and including chat room interaction. The show began in October of 2004 as an internet radio only show, taking a hiatus in December of that year. It relaunched on July 24, 2005 and has been broadcasting new content every weekend ever since. On December 18, 2018, it moved from radio to video on Twitch.

While the show focuses on recent news and events in the gaming industry, frequently it delves into the independent or barely mentioned gaming scene, as well as discussing gaming's history with classic games.

The show has covered six E3's, two GDC's and Independent Games Festivals, four Penny Arcade Expos and multiple Dragon Cons, as well as other gaming events in the southeast, like SIEGE and the Southern Fried Gaming Expo.

Some guests of the show during its long run have been: Video Games Live, Homestar Runner, Atari Flashback 2, Beggar Prince, MechCorps, The Silver Lining, PlayStation Home, Gearbox Software, Devolver Digital, Telltale Games, and the IGDA. Bobby has also interviewed voice actors AJ LoCascio (Back To The Future), Jessie Seely (Double Dragon Neon), Ellen McClain (GLaDOS), John Patrick Lowrie (Team Fortress 2 Sniper), and Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect FemShep), as well as musicians Tommy Tallarico (Everything), Ken Allen (Sierra On-Line), Jake "Virt" Kaufman (Shovel Knight and DuckTales Remastered), and GRAMMY award winner Christopher Tin.

The show does not work without YOUR live interaction, and each chatter is thanked personally at the conclusion of each episode. Come join us on Sundays at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific at the VOG (Voice of Geeks) Network Twitch Channel!

Since it has been a few weeks since the last live show, I give some updated impressions of the PlayStation VR's Playroom VR, Forza Horizon 3, as well as new impressions of Rock Band Rivals, the $30 expansion to make Rock Band 4 suck less. "Rumors and sources" have claimed that Nintendo was ceasing production of the Wii U this week, but Nintendo Japan has denied these claims. Then we take calls about GOG sales and Capcom Live, the live orchestra concert featuring Capcom music from the creators of Video Games Live.

We have an interview with David Corrigan of the Grand Ole Gameroom Expo, an Arcade and Pinball Expo taking place in Nashville, Tennessee from November 11-13, 2016. We talk about the growing arcade and pinball scene in Nashville, as well as some of the hardest parts of doing your first gaming event. But you know we couldn't NOT talk about the Nintendo Switch reveal, even though this is not an episode with the live chat room...

The PlayStation VR is here, and it totally did NOT poison the well for newcomers to the experience, and is a very good buy for the price. We go over how to set it up, how to wear it, and what it's capabilities (both documented AND undocumented) are, as well as talk about the content such as PlayStation VR Worlds and Rez Infinite. Before PSVR came out, Valve showed off new prototype motion controllers for the HTC Vive that mimic more of the Oculus Touch characteristics at Steam Dev Days.

We have an interview with Nick Laing, Senior Producer of the Forza Motorsport franchise at Turn10 Studios, talking about the keynote speech he gave at SIEGE about management and leadership inside a game dev studio. Oculus Connect 3 was this week, and they announced that the Touch controllers as well as Roomscale VR will be coming in December. Also, the minimum specs for an Oculus ready PC just went down so the cost of an Oculus-ready PC just got lower. There's a followup to my LEGO Dimensions save file story from last week. Then, on the call for OLR, we talk about GaymerX, PlayStation VR, and a neat audiogame called Rest Your Eyes.

There were three games that came out this week that deserve being talked about: Lost Odyssey is now backwards compatible on the Xbox One! LEGO Dimensions Year 2 figurines are out, except it corrupted my save file... Forza Horizon 3 is now out and sadly the drivatars still need work, but it's still a lot of fun! Then we take a call about Lost Odyssey, and the complexity of Kingdom Hearts stories.

Forza Horizon 3 is coming out, and I picked it up digitally so I could try it on Xbox Anywhere. Palmer Luckey, founder of Oculus VR, has made some interesting small donations that have blown up in the gaming world. Then we take calls about Pokemon Go Plus, GaymerX, and why there's no Patreon for this show.

Vivendi is making a play to do a hostile takeover of Ubisoft, prompting owners and employees to implore shareholders that they like things the way they are. Steam changed the way they show reviews, now prioritizing reviews from people who purchased the game directly from Steam over those who got keys from other means. A side effect of this is that some games that we thought were hated were maybe not as hated by actual consumers than originally thought... Steam has also pulled the games from a developer who is suing reviewers (both professional and Steam reviewers) for saying bad things about their game. Then we take calls about developers throwing tantrums, why the PS4 Pro meeting was less exciting than their Tokyo Game Show press conference, Persona 5 streaming, and the Forza Horizon 3 demo.

Dragon Con 2016 is in the books, and I talk about the expanded video game presence as well as the fun in the VOG Suite. Apple announced the iPhone 7 featuring Super Mario Run from Nintendo and the lack of a headphone jack. Sony announced the PS4 Pro featuring 4K and HDR gaming but the lack of 4K Blu-Ray playback. Then we take calls about sports games on PC and Dragon Con.

We have a live interview with Michel Monty, Director, and Andrew Kemp, Writer, of the brand new YouTube comedy series Dice Lords, about a magical land seeking Earth's finest heroes, and finding a terrible D&D group instead. There's a new NES emulator available for the Hololens - but nobody realizes that it doesn't actually accept input. Then we take calls about Discworld, abandonware, and our upcoming Dragon Con appearances.

I don't talk about Nintendo NX rumors because I feel that's not a positive discourse - and I wish others followed suit. Square Enix took a look at the reaction to the No Man's Sky day one patch, and delayed Final Fantasy XV to November so they could include their patch on the disc. Then we take a call about why patches don't fix all bugs, and our first video game soundtracks.
