Great analysis of the whole PS4 announcement (and non-announcements). Here is my take on the Gakai stuff: Beyond the demos and trials and backwards compatibility for games you own, I think they could try to take this to another level and turn it into the "Netflix Streaming" of video games. I could see them making a large selection of the PS1,2&3 library available to stream for a monthly fee of say $15. Not the entire library but a selection that changes every so many months.
What do you and the VOG listeners think of a service like that?

That's a lot like Gametap in its prime. Granted, on Gametap, you downloaded the full games to your PC rather than streaming them, but the same concept applied. They were bought out by a French company and started sucking.

This was also the proposed business model of the PHANTOM. We all know how that story ended.

But yes, I can see some people going for this (hell, PSPlus is popular) but I can also see the cries of "WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY $15/MO TO PLAY THE PS2 GAME I HAVE SITTING RIGHT HERE IN MY PS4"...Gamers...Ugh...
