  • The Consumer Electronics Show was this past week, and there were a few gaming products shown, the first of which was the admission that there are Valve Steam Box prototypes.
  • The Android platform saw some new consoles, led by Nvidia's "Project Shield" using the Tegra 4 processor.
  • Microsoft showed off their IllumiRoom technology, combining the Kinect with a projector to turn your entire living room into the game screen.
  • Then we take calls about Borderlands 2 and Steam gaming.

Great show as always Blackwolf.

Concerning Nvidia's Shield, for some reason I don't consider it as a competitor to the mobile gaming market, it feels more like a competitor to the Wii U and the other Android consoles that will be coming out soon. It will be truly nice to see it in proper action when it comes out, but I don't think it will be cheap either.

I always enjoy your anecdotes of explaining what games actually are to people trying to scapegoat them. The whole tension between the first and second amendment is just an example of how politics blows tragedies out of proportion in order to divide us and claw away at our liberties as a result. While events like the Sandy Hook shooting grab all the shock value, one only has to look at violent crime statistics over the past couple of decades to realize the crisis is completely manufactured. There's so many other avoidable deaths that should be minimized first, like car accidents, heart disease, etc. before we start worrying about stopping the 1 in a million things.

I got in to a discussion the other day and about violence in video games and this person said that games should not have and type of fighting whatsoever as it is a promotes it to children of all ages. I than asked if he lets his children watch the Disney movies such as tangled. He said they loved it ..... I was like whats the differences.

Does anyone remember the game America's Army which was created by the Army as a training tool??? It taught you how to shot all the weapons the US Army shoots using real training tools the only differences you didn't have the weapon in your hand you were at a keyboard or arcade.

I do remember that game. I also remember it being a pretty decent fps, especially considering it was free.

I love gaming on my android but admittedly only because of all the emulators. So all I can think of when I hear about things like Ouya and Shield is which gaming systems can it emulate? My current device can only handle up to ps1/n64 and it would be cool if these new devices could handle ps2 or gamecube emulation.

I could totally see Project Shield competing against the 3DS and the PS Vita. Looking at it, The GPU its running on is more powerful then those two handhelds combined. So I can see a market for people that want a better experience with Games on the Android Platform.
