791 - 01/16/22 Bobby Blackwolf Show - #AGDQ2022 Hosting Recap
- Awesome Games Done Quick 2022 Online raised over $3.4 Million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, which is a WR for speedrun charity marathons!
- Unofficial charts referenced: donations over time compared to previous GDQ's, and AGDQ 2022 donation totals broken down by game.
- I was a host/donation reader for four games, and it had its ups and downs. Overall, it was a very positive experience and I hope to audition well enough to do it again in the summer. Here is a YouTube playlist of the games I hosted for.
- People ask me if I'm a speedrunner, and I used to tell them no...until now. It turns out that the Any% Major Glitches speedrun of The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past is super simple to pull off, and I teach you how it's done, courtesy of a bonus incentive on the final night of AGDQ 2022.
- Then we talk to Rob about the news that I didn't talk about.
- Don't let the fact that I didn't talk about the big gaming news distract you from the fact that Georgia defeated Alabama 33-18 to win the 2021 College Football National Championship! Go Dawgs!

I have mixed feelings:
Good for employees due to culture change
Don't like how MS is more of a monopoly now
Wonder how they are going to try to earn back what they spent. Increase price of Gamepass? After buying Bethestda they added egregious mico transactions (example: $15 for color change)/horrible progression system (to encourage purchase of XP Boosts and Challenge Swaps) for Halo Infinite Multiplayer.
How much they paid for the acquisition is crazy. It's even more that what's Nintendo is worth in the market right now.
For Bobby Kotick it's a win-win (unless the deal doesn't go through). Looks good for his legacy: Brought Activsion up from a small company to being sold to Microsoft for billions. Somewhat dodge the sexual harassment acquisitions and most likely paid millions upon leaving.
Acquisition still must go through regulatory agencies. Unless they say something controversial, i predict it'll go through seeing they are the underdog and not top 3 in video game industry prior
If goes through; after honoring current EXISTING Activsion/Blizzard contracts with Sony and Nintendo, most likely be Gamepass exclusive for future games. Like how Deathloop is going to be after acquiring Bethesda
