The Bobby Blackwolf Show

763 - 06/13/21 Bobby Blackwolf Show - E3 Tells Content Creators Not To Costream OR ELSE

  • Reminder - I'm doing two hosting shifts at Summer Games Done Quick 2021 from July 4-11!
  • Lots of games came out this week, and I give my thoughts on three of them - Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Episode INTERmission, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart (super early), and Game Builder Garage.
  • E3 only approved 100 content creators to costream their event out of over 1000 applicants - and warned those who were not selected to NOT create content that includes E3 broadcasts.
  • Luckily, not everything was run by E3, so we talk about the Summer Games Fest Kickoff, the Xbox Showcase, and the Square Enix Showcase.

I gotta say I'm loving Game Builder Garage so far! I have played around with game programming utilities before (like during the VOG game jam) so hearing that GBG was gonna be a thing it definitely piqued my interest.

I think I really started enjoying it after completing the second tutorial with the shoot-em-up! a lot of it just 'clicked' from playing around with multimedia fusion 2 there's definitely similarities in the way things work.

the best part was going back after I finished and experimented with adding and changing things see what would work and what didn't. highly recommended if you've ever been curious about game creation, especially when you can check out some of the other amazing creations fans have come up with!

Disappointed you couldn't co-stream the Nintendo Direct. Was looking forward to live commentary

--On e3:

Thought that e3 was pretty disorganized in terms of content.

First parties (MS, Nintendo) hit it out of the park; while 3rd parties seem to have dialed it in having most content already mentioned in their own previous streams, and Summer Games Fest.

Day 3 had odd diversity panels. Not that I'm against diversity, but they could have saved it for GDC and other conventions. Just seem out of place for me having e3 be the place for big game announcements in the past.

Nintendo could have done their direct at anytime not necessarily at e3

They should have had MS showcase, looped all of 3rd parties into one 2-4 hour stream, then have Nintendo do their direct. Have a 1-3 day event instead of 4

Can see why Sony decided to go MIA.

--On Game Builder Garage:

Downloaded the demo. Gave a good idea of what to expect.

Include 1 lesson of 7 in the game. Cannot download/play other people levels or create your own (aside from the one in the lesson).

Personally I couldn't get into it, but can see how others can. Very niche title.
