  • Oculus has announced Oculus Air Link, a new way for the Oculus Quest 2 to play PC VR titles wirelessly - as long as you have a great wifi connection to a wired PC.
  • The Creative Designer of Days Gone blamed consumers for the lack of a Days Gone sequel, stating that many of them didn't buy the game at full price and waited for it to go on sale or show up on PlayStation Plus, and that's why there's no sequel.
  • Then we talk to OLR about consumer trust of AAA developers and publishers and why that can affect week one sales.

-On Days Gone No Sequel

You can't blame the customer who don't buy games day one (especially new IP).

People have different financial situations and every game purchase is a gamble.

They don't trust games are complete (bug free), good at launch and/or have time savers/lootboxes a few months out. When you buy a game off PSN or retail with shrink wrap you can't return them so there's no try-before-you-buy aside from demos which at times don't really represent the final game

Also games prices drop a few months after launch (especially 3rd party)

Only exception is Nintendo first party which prices never drop unless they do their own limited time sale, or retailers do 2-for-1 deal during holidays/black friday

-On Mortal Kombat series having Ultimate, definitive edition a year later

Those who pay full price with dlcs are basically paying for a timed exclusive whether they're fans of the franchise, steamers, care about FOMO, bored with no games to play at the time, and/or part of the fighting game community.

It's like waiting for a movie to come out on blue-ray/streaming/redbox (pre COVID/pandemic) instead of watching in theaters

Movies by George Lucas, Zach Synder, Peter Jackson are finished when released. You don't see bloopers (aside from possible blooper reels in credits), audio sync issues or stuttering by actors on screen, and have to send theater chains new film post opening night. They just charge full ticket price for remakes a year or more later
