The Bobby Blackwolf Show

743 - 01/17/21 Bobby Blackwolf Show - Lucasfilm Games Re-emerges, Sony's CES Trailer Slip-Up

  • I got the GoXLR Mixer, a Windows-based audio mixer geared towards streamers, which does change the audio sound of the podcast slightly and provides more "toys" that I will try to stay away from.
  • We take some viewer comments about the recent death of Adobe Flash as well as a list of anticipated games for 2021.
  • Lucasfilm Games has re-emerged and is now the caretaker of Lucas properties - and also signaled the end of EA's exclusive license over Star Wars, with Ubisoft announcing a new Star Wars game.
  • Also announced was a new Indiana Jones game being made by MachineGames and Bethesda.
  • A common sentiment over this from consumers was "nobody asked for this" which is never something that should be asked in regards of creative media.
  • The Consumer Electronics Show was virtual this year, and even though there usually aren't software announcements there, Sony did accidentally leak third party release dates in their eventually pulled trailer.
  • Then we talk to OLR about some of the great joys we've had meeting certain gaming luminaries during our years on the air.

Would be disappointing if Zelda BotW2 isn't released during Zelda's 35th anniversary

--Suggested topic: Microsoft doubling price of XBL Gold

I don't see any added value or justification for the price increase as they didn't add any new features. Only excuse was (paraphrasing): oh we forgot to increase the price over time, so we're making up for it now

Feels like MS is strong arming consumers to Gamespass Ultimate. Making Xbox Live Gold the worst deal in games.

Sucks for those Call of Duty, Madden, Fifa players who just play 1 or 2 games a year

Very bad move seeing we are in an economic recession...

Should have just made online free, and incite people with first party exclusives to Gamepass.

Seeing how things are now, looks like they're going to move majority of people to Gamepass Ultimate and then slowly increase Gamepass Ultimate price overtime.

Hope Sony and Nintendo don't follow suit

-MS price increase update

Just like a rushed break up from an ex; MS decided to reverse the decision the very next day.

At least they didn't wait for Sony to make fun of them like with the DRM debacle

Wonder how they're going to recoup the cost from their $7.5 billion acquisition of zenimax now...
