It is a shame that the (now former) Nintendo employee lost his job. While in the grand scheme of things, the comments that he made on the podcast will not hurt Nintendo in the end. Regardless he did make some questionable comments that painted the company in a negative light (ie the Xenoblade comments) and did leak (however minor) some trade secrets that could be used against them. I agree that he likely won't be getting a job within the game industry any time soon but he should hopefully land a job.
What people need to understand is that we live in an age of 24/7 informational/instant gratification/social network that we need to be careful of what we do and say on the internet. When it comes to your jobs you can't take any chances. At the company that I work for (and like many companies), we have a very strict and moderated social networking policy. We've had many cases where someone has tweeted out or blog posted about something very trivial at my job that resulted in that person being suspended or fired. This is why that many of my co-workers and myself have private twitter/other social media accounts where we talk very little about what we're working on. Even tweeting out about having a bad or busy day could be misconstrued as insider information in the wrong hands. I on the other hand tell all of my "insider info" to Bobby who promptly shares it with everyone :P
In all seriousness though, parts of the internet can make it an unmerciful place and having anything regards to your job out there can be dangerous for you and your career.
