The Bobby Blackwolf Show

491 - 08/02/15 Bobby Blackwolf Show - Interview with James Simpson about SnarfQuest Tales; Ouya Sold To Razer

  • Rob finally played (some of) the #VOGJam games, and it's up on YouTube, along with a Flappy VOG secret!
  • Razer bought the parts of Ouya you didn't kickstart - pretty much everything but the hardware and the Free The Games fund, but at least Razer is stepping up.
  • Harmonix is delaying Amplitude to make it bigger and better, but some backers want to try the demo that convention attendees have been playing for months.
  • Our interview is with James Simpson and Jonathan Thomas about SnarfQuest Tales, based on the Larry Elmore comic strip. This is the second time we've spoken to them, and they have a Kickstarter live right now!
  • Then we take calls about the Amplitude Kickstarter and Flashout 2.

So, limited or special edition consoles seem to have been a big trend in the past, and present.

Have you ever bought one of said consoles, and what do you think of them in general?

I have the Gears of War 3 Xbox 360. I had an excuse to buy that because my Xbox 360 Elite red ringed. I really want the MGS V limited edition PS4 console, which isn't being released outside of Europe, but PlayStations never mess up, well, I've never had one go wrong. *Touch wood*

I remember when my 1st xbox 360 red ringed, I ended up buying the Xbox 360 Arcade cause it was cheaper. I still have the Xbox 360 Arcade console to this day, and it never red ringed.

@Mr. Claw, or as I like to call you the voice of God on AllGames, that's good it didn't red ring. My Gears of War 3 console is the S version (I think). By then, they had fixed the RRoD, but they said that about the Elite console. I used the towel trick a few times on the Elite, which worked, but after about 4 times of doing that, it just gave up on me.

The sad part about the Elite was, I couldn't even salvage, and reuse the hard drive because the consoles they used after that, had no accessible hard drive. You had to use the transfer cable to get your saves transferred over. I don't think they had implemented cloud saves back then either - thanks Microsoft, for making me buy a cable I just used once.

I still have that Elite console to remind me of the pain and misery, on the other hand, I got a limited edition Xbox 360, which is probably worth a bit, I have no idea, I haven't checked.

The Xbox 360 Arcade hasn't red ring, cause I wasn't using it as much as i did with the 1st one, That's how you kill your console faster, if your constantly using it.

It was a cooling down issue after using the console, the chips/boards would crack. A head poncho was on an IGN podcast from the Xbox 360 team, and he said it would cost them millions if they didn't resolve the problem.

Personally, I think they should have issued a recall of the system.

Oh by the way, [and you should include this comment in the show]. I didn't listen back to last weeks call when I called in because no one likes to hear their own voice back, and I sang, which is just as more embarrassing, and since VOG is going to hold that against me for eternity, I'll just let that linger in the Blackwolf archives. Maybe it will make it to a best of one day - that's the only way I'd hear it back!
