Orange Lounge Radio Episode 647 - 6/26/16

Tonight we celebrate 14 years of our show! We take a look back at our roots as a show, and have some fun references to the beginning days with our special return of our game Listless! There is plenty of gaming news to discuss as well on the show this week, even if our special guest Shane from RangerPRIDE keeps trying to derail it with Pokemon talk!

Also in the news:
* Sony Playstation 3 Linux Dispute
* Someone tried to steal the Zelda E3 demo
* Resident Evil 7 Quicktime events
* Next Yacht Club Game

All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio!

Happy 14th Birthday, not quite there as an adult yet, but you'll be there in another 4 years. This time next year, you also will have surpassed 1,000 episodes of the show.

A last minute story you could have put at the end was the Street Fighter V June update. Technically July, since they missed the June window (why do they keep doing that?) They promise an update in June, but deliver in July.

Maybe this update will sell more copies, but I can't help but think the boat has sailed long ago on this game.

I hung out a lot on Prodigy. it was my first internet experience in around 1996. I spent almost all of my time there in the Goth/Industrial chat room.

True story: i married someone i first met on Prodigy about 14 years later.

Sometimes i miss Prodigy.

I was looking for one of the previous anniversary shows for my archives (realized I couldn't get it thru your old site so I checked the VOG archives) but as I was looking for it I came across an interview I did with our old friend dj Melvis!

And it reminded me that we kinda DID have a hand in DDR, at least to an extent, so surely if we had the rights to DDR things would probably be way different, huh?

I'm sure Mr. Spanky would do just fine as CEO of Konami, though. :P (and yes I take full responsibility for the wiki article, there's no other info about him online anymore! :P)

This week just exemplifies why I love contributing to the show!

this is a good point that we were fortunate to have many friends of OLR working at konami (including shane, really) doing step art and other QA during what i would argue was DDR's peak with the home versions (ya'll know I think Ultramix 2 is the best US mix they ever did). though I can't say our show really directly did anything besides being some "exclusive" reveals especially towards the end (remember when we were lucky enough to have the Ultramix 4 songs first?)

oh that's right I completely spaced on that one, he was there too! yeah that whole ultramix era was definitely a 'silver age' of sorts after the original games in the arcades and on Playstation/PS2.

And yeah I do remember the line of Power Previews that we did for Ultramix 4/Universe on 360!

Yeah I don't really know what the heck happened toward the end there but yeah.... all we can do is imagine what could've been, huh? :(
